Welcome to Hextor Gundogs. We are a small family kennel and specialise in training all types of Gundogs to work in the shooting field. Our own dogs are German Pointers, both Shorthaired and Wirehaired. We are HPR ( Hunt Point Retrieve ) specialists and have over thirty years experience of these wonderful dogs.
We are actively involved in the working gundog scene and work our dogs on various shoots during the shooting season. During the off season, our dogs work with us every day on private estates and assist with vermin control and dogging in. We also train and deliver training throughout the year on a number of private estates in the South East of England, mainly in East Sussex and have experience of a wide range of Gundog types.
We deliver training on a One to One basis or to small groups in either half or full day sessions. We also accept Gundogs for Residential Training by arrangement. We base our training on positive reinforcement methods.
We used to compete in Kennel Club events as you can see from the pictures above but felt something was lacking as little emphasis is placed on the HP elements of HPR, so we, together with a group of like minded individuals founded the Working Versatile Pointer Association.
Although our own dogs live in our home, they are first and foremost working dogs. We are able to live with them in our home environment because we have learned to adapt our lives and home, set ground rules for the dogs to obey and most importantly give them the focus and stimulation they need. i.e. we put them to work to give them an outlet for their considerable energy and intelligence.

We do not breed often and when we do, we have a full order book in advance. The dogs we breed from are descended from such excellent proven Continental working HPR lines as Pradellinensis, Della Sarga, Hege-Haus and Pottsieppen. We breed with the sole intention of producing working dogs and we do not sell our pups to people just wishing to have a pet.
